As the band, Europe, boldly sang, “It’s the final countdown!” Tomorrow puts the last four D1A teams against each other to determine who will punch tickets to Houston to battle for the D1A National Championship title on May 6th. The final four consists of Lindenwood, Navy, BYU and Cal. Here’s the breakdown for the two blockbuster matchups. 

Navy hosts Lindenwood

The #1 seed Navy will welcome the #2 seed Lindenwood to Annapolis, MD on Saturday April 22nd.. The Midshipmen enter the National Semifinal with a stellar 16-0 record, while the Lions maintain only one loss on the season with a record of 15-1. Both programs are coming off of decisive quarter final wins; Navy beat rival Army 30-6 while Lindenwood punched their ticket to Annapolis by beating Life 29-8. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00pm at the Prusmack Rugby Center. 

Cal hosts BYU

#3 seed Cal looks forward to hosting #4 seed BYU in Berkeley, CA. The Cougars went 12-2 on the season while the Bears went 9-3. At their last meeting in March, the Cougars proved victorious with a 50-14 victory. The Bears narrowly beat Saint Mary’s College last weekend to secure a home semifinal, sliding by 29-28. BYU handled CWU 62-31 to book their plane tickets to California. The action kicks off at 1:00pm PST. 

Round Up

In last year’s championship, both Cal and Lindenwood ended their seasons in the semifinal round. They will both look to make it one step further this year! All matches will be streamed live on The Rugby Network.
