FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Midwest Rugby Conference officially announced that the University of Iowa will join the league beginning with the 2026–27 collegiate rugby season, further strengthening the conference’s competitive footprint across the central United States.
Iowa’s addition continues the Midwest Conference’s strategic growth, following its broader expansion efforts. The Hawkeyes bring a strong rugby tradition, a committed coaching staff, and a competitive roster that aligns with the conference’s emphasis on high‑performance play and regional alignment.
“We’re excited to welcome the University of Iowa to the Midwest Rugby Conference,” said Ant Frein, Midwest D1AA Administrator. “Their program reflects the competitive ambition and student‑athlete focus that we hope defines this league, and their arrival enhances the depth and quality of rugby across the Midwest.”
Iowa joins a rapidly expanding conference preparing for a new competitive era in 2026–27. Additional scheduling details and divisional structures will be released later this year.
